VITAL BLOOD FLOW

Blood flow is vital in the supply of oxygen and nutrients to our bodily organs. So, when we get a muscle strain or pain in our shoulder, we might be right to assume that there’s the possibility that the effected muscles might be lacking in vital blood flow. There can be a number of reasons why this is caused. Nerve compression in the area might be one or even vitamin deficiencies in the body might be another.

Our client today had pain in his shoulder which was radiating into his neck and up into his head giving him headaches and down his arm leading to issues with mobility in his shoulder.

Upon examination of the shoulder, we found trigger points in the rhomboid muscle (image 2) both centrally and medial to the scapula which was causing a strain on the levator scapula muscle (image 3) leading to the symptoms that our client presented with.

Given the importance of blood flow, we used a cupping tool to create friction on the skin and draw blood into the trigger points and the referred pain areas. We dry needled the rhomboid muscle (opening the muscle, creating a pathway for blood flow freely) to take the pressure off the levator scapula, and to finish the session we did some deep tissue work to flush out any resistance that might still be remaining in the area

This is an extremely efficient treatment and has allowed our client to go back to work loading and offloading trucks the very next day.
