By far the best way of looking after our bodies muscular structure and preventing injury. My treatment room is based inside a building that houses two independent gyms. There are participants and competitors from both gyms that come to me for regular bodywork. These are the people that unsurprisingly don’t pick up injuries that prevent them from training or leading a pain free lifestyle.

In the video above (click to view) you’ll see a long-time client of mine who works as a care assistant in a care home. The demands physically on his body are huge. There’s a lot of lifting and carrying for long periods working long hours, up to ten to twelve days straight sometimes. The body needs recovery rest and care and he gets that from regular bodywork sessions.

Here’s a stat I came across. 46% of everyday injuries are Strains (overstretch or tear in the tendon or muscle) and Sprains (damage to the ligament)

When we train or even in our everyday hectic lifestyles, we can over exert ourselves, doing too much too soon and often not knowing when to safely stop. We end up stiffening stressing and straining certain muscle groups. When we don’t take care to this tension, we again over exert ourselves by using other muscles groups to take up the slack from the ones that are not preforming in order for us to complete our daily tasks, or exercises that we are doing in the gym.

Getting regular bodywork carried out stops the build up of tension in our muscular systems and helps prevent long term injury by having these muscles firing and functioning in a way that allows you to preform to the best of your ability.
